I've attended Grand Rapids First for over 2 years. I love what the church provides for my children. Pastor Sam is amazing at delivering the word. Me and my boyfriend planned on joining the church but was told we couldn't join "together" because we are unwed and as I explained we are our own people and we didn't live in the same household, at that time we were practicing celibacy. Needless to say eventually our fleshly desires got the best of us, and we conceived a baby in which we don't regret at all because each child is a gift from God. Yes, I am an unwed mother but that doesn't make the next person better than me. I was asked to dedicate my daughter by "the church" in which both me and her father agreed. I had to attend a mandatory orientation, less than a week prior to the dedication I received a phone call and was told since me and her father aren't married BOTH of us are welcome to attend the ceremony but only 1 of us would be able to dedicate her, because they don't want the congregation to think it's accepted. Now this is the very church who's upcoming sermon is "we're only human" the very church in which I've volunteered my time, the church that says "come as you are". I don't know if they believe they're doing the right thing but it has completely pushed me and my family away. That is not my only area of concern with the church, there's people who attend from all over, so why not "outreach" to each city beside "Wyoming" why not reach out to the inner city black community? There's much more but I'll just end with...just because we may sin differently doesn't make you better than me or me better than you... John 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."

  • Warm and welcoming, I've visited many churches in my past and I chose to make Grand Rapids First my church home because that's where I felt I was finally at HOME!!!!

  • This is an amazing place! The sweet presence of the Holy Spirit is here every time we gather together! In addition to amazing teaching and wonderful small group ministry, I am really excited about this church's ministry to baby boomers - a great chance to connect with other people my age, have a good time and deal with some of are common concerns. If you've never been here, you need to try this church: it is wonderful!

  • Solid preaching based on the timeless truths of God's Word that have everyday application to your life. A place where you feel at home and it's not just a slogan but the reality of how you are treated. I love these people who love Jesus and show it in their actions not just their words. A safe place - God will meet you where you are and love you enough to not let you stay there - He will help you and me to grow to our fullest potential. Come and join us as we journey together towards God's plan and purpose for the best life you could possibly live.

  • This church is my family! They have helped me through the darkest times in my life and they never judge anyone for the things they have done. Church is meant for everyone, and this Church makes that very clear. You are all welcome to come here and worship God with us!! The Holy Spirit is oozing out at every service. If a Church isn't pushing you closer to God than you are not in the right place. Grand Rapids First pushes you towards a closer relationship with God, and helping others achieve that same goal.
